KELOWNA — A New Brunswick man has been spared a jail sentence after admitting to robbing a Kelowna bank.
It happened in January at the Scotiabank’s Dilworth branch.
A masked man didn’t produce a weapon when he demanded cash from a teller and fled on foot.
But witnesses told police which way the robber went and a police dog picked up the scent.
Jason Paul Doucet was found hiding on a lower balcony of a nearby apartment building.
The judge suspended sentence while ordering Doucet to serve three years on probation and pay a $200 victim surcharge fee.
The 21- year-old must also submit a DNA sample and is prohibited from possessing firearms for 10 years.
