‘Overweight’ DDO football player loses appeal

DOLLARD-DES-ORMEAUX – A nine-year-old football player who was barred from carrying the ball because he was ‘overweight’ has lost his appeal to Football Quebec for reinstatement.

The ruling also landed a devastating blow to the season of the Sunnybrooke Chiefs atom football team, who were forced to forfeit four games.

Two weeks ago, the league disqualified Shekai Mills Knight because he was listed as 111 lbs – a pound too heavy to carry the ball.

His mother insisted that he was actually 101 lbs, and insisted he was weighed incorrectly.

The team has four games left to play.

It said it may consider a lawsuit due to alleged irregularities with how players were weighed.
