Bill Thorn with the Regina Humane Society said staff are still feeling the effects of a busy summer with a number of abandoned animals arriving at the shelter and it’s starting to take a toll on resources.

“We don’t want to get to capacity at an animal shelter,” he explained.  “Ideally we’ve got as many animals going out, or maybe a few more even, then we have coming in.  It helps manage the population and keeps everyone happy and healthy.”

Adoption fees for cats and kittens has been reduced to $50 and to $99 for dogs and puppies.
