A seven-year-old terminally ill boy from New Port Richey, Florida saved his city from a “zombie” attack on Tuesday.
Spencer Holt was diagnosed with Mitochondrial disease, a type of disorder that affects the body’s cells and its ability to produce energy. Holt’s diagnosis causes him to spend a lot of time in hospital. But for one day, the local police department wanted Holt to take his mind off of his incurable illness. So they made his wish come true by letting him fight zombies.
“You’ve got to have courage in the tough times and good times,” told Pasco Sheriff Chris Nocco to Holt before his mission began.
The video then shows one of Nocco’s officers entering the room to let Holt know of a zombie attack taking over New Port Richey.
“Zombies overran the jail. We can’t hold them back. We need help.”
Holt was off, ready to fight for his city.
Arranging a full day of zombie-fighting activities for the seven-year-old, the police made Holt a deputy and equipped him with the right tools he would need to terminate the intruders.
The sheriff’s office made sure the monster theme was incorporated into every event for Holt, even choreographing a dance to Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” as Holt and his family applauded.
“It’s nice because he spends a lot of his time in hospital, so for him to do something different and special and have fun, it’s nice,” Holt’s mom told WFLA News.
