Political Career – Ran for the NDP in the Churchill riding in 2006 and lost to Liberal Tina Keeper. Ran again in 2008 and defeated Keeper. Re-elected 2011.

Personal life – Married Ryan Barker, August 2011.

For the record – “Today, there are many young MPs, many women, many people of different backgrounds that join us here. Together we have broken down barriers. New politics says age is not a barrier.” Speaking as she announced her candidacy for the leadership.
