HALIFAX – The Nova Scotia Health Authority says it could be some time before the extent of flood damage is known at a Halifax hospital.
Surgeries and appointments were postponed and dozens of patients relocated Thursday after water swamped the fifth floor of the Centennial Building of the Victoria General site.
One of the areas evacuated was an intensive care unit.
The health authority says patients whose surgeries or appointments have been delayed are being contacted directly.
Maintenance staff are sampling walls for moisture levels to determine what sort of repairs are needed.
Several buildings make up the Victoria General site in the city’s south end.
It is part of the QEII Health Sciences Centre, which also includes the Halifax Infirmary.
