YARMOUTH, NS – The Nova Star Ferry is getting another boost, as the provincial government announced on Wednesday that it would be giving the ferry operators another $1.5-million.

The money is part of the $13-million subsidy promised by the government for this season.

So far, Nova Star has received just over $11-million, with four weeks left to the season.

In August, the company reported that passenger levels were lower than they had hoped for, however Transportation minister Geoff MacLellan says the government will stick with the service for the rest of the season. After that, he says all bets are off.

The department is comparing the business plans of three companies for the Nova Star and are expected to make a decision next month about the long-term operator for the ferry service.
