Sask. man gets jail time in stolen ATV crash that killed teen

KAMSACK, Sask. – A Saskatchewan man has been sentenced for causing a fatal ATV crash on Canada Day. Brandon Cote, 18, of the Cote Reserve died from injuries suffered in the crash that happened early July 1 in Kamsack.

Kaylon Tourangeau-Genaille, 18, was given 20 months in jail, followed by one year of probation, and a two-year driving ban.

In July, he pleaded guilty to dangerous driving causing death, break and enter, and possession of stolen property worth over $5,000.

RCMP said that he and two other males had been on the ATV, which an off-duty officer had noticed being driven erratically before the accident.

One rider later approached the officer and said a passenger had been hurt, and police later discovered that the ATV had been taken from a property near Madge Lake.
