It’s March Madness season in Saskatoon, but not the one involving college basketball teams.
Operation March Madness will see police forces in Saskatchewan target aggressive drivers across the province as part of a coordinated traffic safety blitz.
On March 14th and 15th, police will target drivers who are speeding, driving too fast for road conditions, running red lights, failing to stop at stop signs, passing to the right on a highway, stunting or racing.

“A significant number of collisions happen on Saskatchewan roads each year as a result of aggressive driving,” said SGI president and CEO Andrew Cartmell.
“This blitz will remind motorists to give themselves enough time to get where they’re going to prevent anxiety or frustration that could affect their driving.”
SGI says that on average, there are 4,100 collisions each year in the province due to aggressive driving, resulting in more than 1,600 injuries and nearly 60 deaths.
This is the fourth province-wide blitz conducted by SGI and police forces. Previous blitzes have targeted cell phone use, drinking and driving and intersection safety.
