WINNIPEG — Winnipeg Police confirmed the body pulled from the Red River Thursday evening was that of 61-year-old Jill Tardiff, who’d been missing since Sunday, September 6th.
Emergency crews responded to the river bank in St. Boniface around 6 p.m. Thursday, triggering concerns it was the Winnipeg. Tardiff left her St. Boniface home early Monday morning and didn’t come home, triggering a large search party around the neighborhood.

Foul play is not suspected.

we are awaiting confirmation from the police and are taking direction from them in terms of further searches. Nothing has been confirmed 100% at this time but there are many similarities between Jill and the person found.
“In her career, Jill was a gifted educator who cared deeply for all her students and who profoundly affected lives,” said Faye Tardiff, Jill’s sister-in-law. “The community responded with compassion and support and I am grateful for the kindness shown to all sides of her family and he husband, Jim.”
