Then 70 stars of the show trotted into town along with 127 touring crew members and a month of construction.

“We use 5,000 tonnes of material to build that mountain takes about 4 days to bring in the material to shape it to cover it,” Zlicaric said.

Winnipeggers like Jeremy Day were hired to make the magic happen, working alongside travelling employees.

“They’re from Mexico from Toronto the states, Michigan… there’s a lot of people that fly in to come work here and its really nice because you you get to know them,” Jeremy Day said.

Day is one of 100 locals the international production company Cavalia hired to work on the site.

While the set includes 175 moving lights, a mechanical merry go round and a mid-stage forest with curtains, one of the most intricate special features is the lake on stage with 360 litres of re-usable water.

“So water will come from two tanks one on each side of the stage they are lcoated inside…we open the valve at the end of the show and and we flood the stage,” Zlicaric said.
