WINNIPEG – It’s a history-making day.
Queen Elizabeth, 89, will be celebrated as our longest reigning Monarch, surpassing great-great-grandmother Victoria with almost 64 years on the throne.
Churches throughout Manitoba are encouraged to ring their bells for three minutes at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday morning, marking the time of Queen Victoria’s passing in 1901.
The Royal Canadian Mint will also unveil a commemorative coin Wednesday. The Legislative Building will be lit up each evening at 8:30 pm with the Queen’s cipher until September 11.
