New NDP election ad about Tom Mulcair claims: “I’m ready”

The NDP is now weighing in on a common catchphrase of the federal election: “readiness.”

In a new 60-second ad set to run nationally in premium spots, NDP leader Tom Mulcair declares: “I’m ready.”

It’s an obvious jab at the Conservatives and Liberals, who have been battling over Grit leader Justin Trudeau’s chops since well before the October 19 election was called.

The Conservatives have branded Trudeau “just not ready” while the Liberal leader has countered in his own ads that he very much is.

The NDP’s new spot uses childhood photos and vintage video of Mulcair to introduce him as a father and grandfather, and play on his middle-class upbringing. It also focuses on his lengthy career in politics.

And by the end, Mulcair is looking into the camera and declaring “Canadians are ready for change.”

“I’m ready too.”

And the battle for readiness begins.
