CALGARY – A fire ban and Alberta Health Services’ air quality advisory have both been lifted for the city of Calgary after poor air quality caused by western wildfires improved significantly.

The Calgary Fire Department lifted the fire ban, which prohibited the use of fire pits, recreational campfires, chimeneas and other wood-burning devices, on Wednesday morning.

The fire ban had been the first implemented by the Calgary Fire Department solely due to poor air quality. Officials continue to monitor conditions and will reinstate the ban if necessary.

Alberta Health Services rescinded its air quality advisory late Tuesday.
