SASKATOON – A teen is facing a Fentanyl possession charge following a traffic stop in Saskatoon. Members of the integrated drug enforcement street team (SIDEST) made the stop Tuesday evening in the 2500-block of 22nd Street West.
Police then searched three people in the vehicle. One was allegedly found to have seven fake OxyContin pills containing Fentanyl.

The 17-year-old teen is facing a charge of possession of a controlled substance. He is scheduled to appear in Saskatoon provincial court on Sept. 14.
Members of SIDEST are continuing with their investigation into the distribution of Fentanyl in Saskatoon.

Fentanyl, which is 50 to 100 times stronger than morphine and 20 times more than OxyContin, has been linked to several recent deaths and overdoses in Saskatoon and across Western Canada.
