Fisker Karma – the world’s first luxury electric car?

The City of Vancouver has just launched an $800,000 pilot program to install up to 67 electric “charging stations” all over the city, believing electric cars will help Vancouver retain its reputation as Canada’s greenest city. But how do you convince people that electric vehicles are as desirable as their current gas-guzzlers?

The world’s newest automaker, Fisker, believes it has made the world’s most desirable electric vehicle.

The Karma is the world’s first luxury, high-performance, plug-in electric vehicle. And it looks like no other vehicle on the road. Once you see the car, you’ll understand why it’s a hot seller.

The dealership hasn’t even “officially” opened yet and it is already proving to be a hit with buyers who can afford the $106,000 price tag.

Fisker of Vancouver has sold all the vehicles on the lot and has $5000 deposits to sell 10 more as soon as he can get them from the manufacturer.

Due to its unique hybrid powertrain, the Karma has a battery-only range of 80 kilometres, and an on-board gas-powered generator that continues to provide power to the electric motors for another 400 kilometres.

With an MPGe (Miles per gallon equivalent) of over 50 MPGe, it has performance and range that no other plug-in electric can rival.

It also erases the “range anxiety” that holds many people back from embracing electric vehicles.

With 400+ horsepower and massive torque, the Karma is capable of going 0 to 100km/h in 6 seconds, with world-class cornering ability and luxurious comfort.

And I get to take it for a test drive!
