The smoke will move in aloft, but will mix down to the surface by Tuesday afternoon with daytime heating.
Once the smoke surfaces, the possibility exists that there could be significant reductions in visibility and air quality.
The province has not had any significant smoke issues since the massive outbreak of forest fires in northern Saskatchewan that led to the largest evacuation in the province’s history.
Smoke advisories were issued in Alberta early in the day Monday and have been in effect in British Columbia since the weekend.
