The Global News SkyTracker app is available for iOS and Android devices.

TORONTO – Need to check the weather before heading out the door? Global News has launched a new SkyTracker app that makes planning your day easier.

With a fresh new look, the completely redesigned SkyTracker app allows you to check weather in your location and around the world.

And, if you’re planning a trip or checking on relatives and friends, you can add cities from around the world, too.

And the best part is that you, the user, get to play a part in it as well. Get a great thunderstorm shot? A beautiful rainbow? You can submit your photos and video via the app and share content through email, Twitter and Facebook.

You can also keep tabs on weather stories from across the country and across the globe with weather news and video.

The maps feature allows you to not only see radar and satellite images, but you get a lot more with settings that allow you to see temperature maps, water temperature maps, lightning strikes, wind speed and even snow cover.

And if there’s severe weather, you can track alerts for tornadoes, severe thunderstorms or even winter and marine warnings.
