Whoop Up Days highlights

This year’s Whoop Up Days had a variety of fun new attractions. We feature some festival favorites:

Lions, tigers and jaguars…oh my!

Wed, Aug 19: This year the zoo has come to Whoop Up Days, bringing with it some of the world’s most ferocious wild animals. But as Sarolta Saskiw finds out, these furry creatures aren’t as scary as you might think.

Whoop Up fire eater

Fri, Aug 21: Imagine touching your tongue to a burning fire. You can’t? Probably because you would never do something like that. One woman at this year’s Whoop Up Days is not only playing with fire, but actually eating it. Sarolta Saskiw has that story.

The Tipi Village

Thu, Aug 20: Southern Alberta sits on traditional Blackfoot territory. But how much do we really know about the First Nations people who were here before us? One of the main attractions at Whoop Up Days sheds light on that history and culutre, and as Sarolta Saskiw finds out it all begins with the sound of the drum.
