OLIVER – The Wilson Mountain wildfire near Oliver is in mop-up stage but it’s still too dangerous for FortisBC crews to enter the area to make infrastructure repairs.
The company says a main electricity transmission line was substantially damaged by the blaze.
However, no customers are directly affected.
FortisBC is waiting for emergency officials to declare the area safe before making repairs.
Meanwhile, work continues to re-build the 10 kilometre main line between Rock Creek and Westbridge which was badly damaged by last week’s Rock Creek wildfire
In a news release, the company reports: “As the main line is rebuilt, FortisBC will also repair damage to the multiple secondary lines that bring service to individual properties. This will restore power to properties, on a case-by-case basis, in sections starting from Rock Creek. We will inspect each property for damage to buildings and electrical service before restoring power.”
The area is temporarily being serviced by a large, diesel powered generator.
