WATCH ABOVE: As more personal data is released by hackers, 90 email addresses have been linked to Ashley Madison users in Lethbridge. Blake Lough has more on what that means for locals looking to potentially cheat on their spouses.
LETHBRIDGE – For people who trusted their personal information to the spouse-cheating website, Ashley Madison, this week has been a learning experience. Luckily for the website’s 32 million users, only the most basic information has been shared so far.

“Confidentiality on the Internet is a misnomer,” said manager of the Information Security Office at the University of Lethbridge Kevin Vadnais. “The forbidden aspect of actions associated with the Ashley Madison website make it interesting for people to talk about. The evidence of the breach really doesn’t show anything other than people created an account.”
Hundreds of email addresses from Alberta provincial and municipal governments and universities appear on a list of accounts apparently subscribed to the website, including accounts from Lethbridge.
Ashley Madison accounts from Lethbridge include:
-77 University of Lethbridge
-4 City of Lethbridge
-5 Lethbridge College
-3 Lethbridge School District
-1 Lethbridge County
For accounts linked to the University of Lethbridge email addresses (@uleth.ca) Vadnais doesn’t think the hack will lead to anything more than public shame.
“It might be slightly embarrassing, but it’s nothing that’s going to impact the operations of the university with teachers or students or staff.”
Experts said the data appeared to be authentic, in the sense of actually being from ashleymadison.com and not fake. However, the quality of the original data is questionable – users didn’t have to verify their email addresses when they started an account.
