EDMONTON — Alberta Health Services issued its second contaminated water advisory this week for a beach on Pigeon Lake because of elevated levels of fecal coliforms.

On Thursday, AHS advised people to not swim or wade in the water at Mission Beach or drink the contaminated water, which can cause vomiting and diarrhea. The current levels can also cause skin, ear and eye infections.

On Tuesday, the same advisory was issued for Grandview Beach.

The higher levels of bacteria were found during routine testing of the lake water at both beaches.

AHS Environmental Public Health officers will continue to monitor the water. The water advisory will remain in place until further notice.
