Two people sent to hospital after St. James crash

WINNIPEG – Two people were sent to hospital early Sunday morning after a car flipped on a St. James roadway.

Emergency crews were called to Conway Street and Lodge Avenue just after 8 a.m.

Residents tell Global News they heard a loud band followed by a scraping sound.

A yellow four-door Nissan Sentra had hit a light standard at the intersection of Lodge and Harmon flipping over and sliding to a stop at Conway Street.

Neighbours, and a nurse who happened to be driving by after her shift, rushed to help the two occupants out of the car.

Residents said they observed alcohol both inside and outside of the vehicle.

A man and a woman, who witnesses said appear to be in their 20’s, were taken to hospital.

Officers still had the area blocked off late Sunday afternoon.

Evidence markers could be seen while police Check Stop were on site investigating.

Police have no confirmed whether speed or alcohol are considered factors in the crash.
