FAUQUIER–The closures of Highways 3 and 33 are impacting communities as far away as Fauquier.
With the major roads closed due to wildfires in the region, many drivers are using Highway 6 between the Arrow Lakes and Vernon.

That means using the Needles Ferry, a free cable ferry that only has capacity for 30 vehicles at a time.

Vehicles were lined up for kilometres.
Wait times are up to six hours.
There is a lack of amenities in Fauquier, so finding food, or even washrooms is a problem for waiting travellers.
