Trial begins for third man charged in Bolsa triple murder

The trial for a third man charged in the Bolsa triple murder began on Monday

Three people, including an innocent bystander, were killed in a gangland-style shooting at Bolsa restaurant, on New Year’s Day 2009.

Real Honorio is charged with three counts of first-degree murder in connection to the deaths of Sanjeev Mann, Aaron Bendle and innocent bystander Keni S’ua.

In its opening statement the Crown said it will prove to the jury beyond a reasonable doubt that Honorio, who went by the alias ‘Chinaman,’ took part in the planned and deliberate killings of a rival gang member and his associate, as well as the shooting death of Su’a.

The Crown told the jury of eight men and four women that they will hear testimony from two police officers who befriended Honorio in a sting operation, and that will also hear the accused himself discussing his role in the killings.

The first witness in the trial was a Calgary police officer who led the forensic investigation at the scene.

The crown plans to call some thirty witnesses in all during the trial, which is scheduled to last five weeks.

Last fall, Michael Roberto and Nathan Zuccherato were convicted of three counts each of first-degree murder in connection to the shooting. Both are serving life sentences with no chance of parole for 25 years.
