Riders ‘Bleed Green’ to help save lives

Regina – With no game this week, the Saskatchewan Roughriders took time to visit Regina’s blood donor clinic.

Players Matt Vonk, Dan Clark, Tristan Jackson and Macho Harris took part in the sixth annual Bleed Green campaign Wednesday.

Not only did the players interact with donors, but a few signed up to donate to the cause as well.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

“You never know who will need blood,” said Riders’ defensive back Tristan Jackson. “I had a brother who had a bad car accident one time and he needed blood.  You never know if it is going to touch home. It’s always good to give blood when you can.”

The campaign has raised over 8,600 units of blood over six years.

The program runs from June to October and has received 779 units towards the goal of 1,300 units.
