Summary: One of the many suburban ridings in the 905 belt that voted Conservative last election, former cabinet minister Julian Fantino seeks re-election in Vaughan-Woodbridge.
Boundaries: A suburban riding encompassing all of southwest Vaughan, Vaughan-Woodbridge includes any part of York Region south of Regional Road 11 and west of Highway 400.
Last Election: This is a much smaller version of the old riding of Vaughan, which elected Fantino by 26.5 per cent in 2011.
Had this riding existed in the last election, the Conservatives would have taken it by 25.9 per cent more votes than the Liberals (based on polling results).

History: Prior to last election, the seven ridings in York Region had generally been Liberal, with the exception of York-Simcoe and Newmarket-Aurora. However, the Conservatives added Thornhill and Oak Ridges-Markham to their tally in 2008, and last election won every seat in the region with the exception of Markham-Unionville.
Demographics: 17.3 per cent of residents in this riding were born in Italy as of the 2011 National Household Survey, by far the highest number in Canada. Perhaps unsurprisingly, 78.9 per cent of people identified as Christian, the highest number in the GTA.
