Summary: This is a new riding for 2015, carved out of the former riding of Carleton-Mississippi Mills. The incumbent here, Conservative Gordon O’Connor, won four straight terms in office. He is not running for re-election. Small business owner Walter Pamic will try to keep the seat for the Conservatives. His main opponent will be Liberal Karen McCrimmon, a retired Air Force Lieutenant-Colonel who was a ground-breaker in the military, as the first woman to command a Canadian Forces flying squadron.
Boundaries: The southwest and southeast portions of the former Carleton-Mississippi Mills riding have been moved into other ridings. Along with Kanata, this riding includes Dunrobin, Constance Bay, Fitzroy Harbour, Kinburn, and Carp.

Last Election: In the former riding, Conservative O’Connor earned 57 per cent of the vote to defeat Liberal Karen McCrimmon who earned 24 per cent. Had the new boundaries been in effect, the Conservative share would have been slightly smaller at 53.7 per cent, followed by the Liberals with 26.5 per cent.

History: Liberal MP Ian Murray won this seat in 1993 and 1997. He was defeated in 2000 by Scott Reid, running for the Canadian Alliance. O’Connor held the seat from 2004 until his retirement from politics this year.
