Summary: NDP MP Denis Blanchette was elected here in 2011, defeating the Bloc Québécois incumbent. Winning a second term would be a significant victory for Blanchette, since voters here have voted against the incumbent party in the last five elections. This riding is also home to half of a father-son duo — Jean-Pierre Asselin is the father of Pierre Thomas Asselin, who is running in the Québec riding.
Boundaries: This is one of six Quebec City ridings. It encompasses the borough of Sainte-Foy—Sillery—Cap Rouge.

Last Election: In 2011, NDP Blanchette won 38.7 per cent of the vote, while the BQ incumbent, Pascal-Pierre Paillé, earned 24.2 per cent.
History: The last party to win two elections in a row here was the BQ in 1993 and 1997, with two different candidates. Voters then switched to the Liberals, followed by the BQ, the Conservatives, back to the BQ, and finally the NDP in 2011. The result is that this riding has had 7 different MPs in the last 20 years.
