Federal Election 2015: La Prairie riding results

Summary: This new riding will send a new MP to Ottawa in 2015. The NDP candidate is the brother of Sylvain Chicoine, who won Châteauguay-St. Constant for the NDP in 2011.

Boundaries: This riding, south of Montreal, was carved out of Châteauguay-Saint-Constant and Brossard-La Prairie. It includes Candiac, Delson, La Prairie, and Kahnawake Reserve no 14.

Last Election: In 2011, voters within this new riding’s boundaries voted 50.0 per cent NDP, 25.7 per cent Bloc Québecois, and 13.2 per cent Liberal.

History: Both of the former ridings that make up this new riding elected NDP members in 2011. Châteauguay-Saint-Constant had supported the BQ prior to that, and Brossard-La Prairie had mostly supported the Liberals.
