MONTREAL – A Sûreté du Québec (SQ) officer from Beloeil has been charged with fraud after an alleged sick-leave scam.
Nicolas Landry, 39, who has been a provincial officer for 14 years, appeared in court on Wednesday to be formally charged with fraud for an amount over $5,000.
In a statement, the Sûreté du Québec said the investigation began in July 2014 after Landry “knowingly submitted false information to the attending medical staff in order to extend sick leave.”
Landry’s status with the police force will be reevaluated in the coming days.
His next court appearance is set for September 4.
