Summary: Mark Eyking seeks a sixth term in Sydney-Victoria, the only federal riding fully on Cape Breton Island.
Boundaries: This riding covers central Cape Breton, and north to the tip of the island. The Cape Breton Regional Municipality is split between this riding and Cape Breton-Canso.
Last Election: 2011 was a tight race, with Liberal Mark Eyking defeating former PC MLA Cecil Clarke by just 765 votes.
History: Prior to 2011, Eyking had won the riding for the Liberal Party by large margins in each election beginning in 2000, when he defeated the one-term NDP MP Peter Mancini.
The northern of the two Cape Breton ridings has elected Liberal candidates in all but two elections since 1968.
Demographics: 9.1 per cent of residents are Aboriginal, the highest number in Nova Scotia.
