Little girl battling brain cancer meets her idol Taylor Swift

WATCH ABOVE: A little girl from Sherwood Park had her dream come true Tuesday night: she met pop-country superstar Taylor Swift.

EDMONTON — Millions of little girls likely dream of meeting pop star Taylor Swift. That dream came true Tuesday for five-year-old Ava Hadfield.

Ava, who lives with her family in Sherwood Park, Alberta, was diagnosed with brain cancer three years ago.

After 46 weeks of chemotherapy, 31 rounds of radiation and three surgeries, her parents decided to help her make a ‘Dreams and Wish List’ of things she’d like to do in her life. Right at the top of that list? Meeting Taylor Swift.

The mega star was scheduled to perform in Edmonton at the beginning of August and, at the end of July, the Hadfields were contacted by Swift’s team: Ava would get to meet her idol!

On Tuesday evening, after a day full of anticipation, the meeting finally took place at Rexall Place.

Ava’s Army – a community that’s rallied support for Ava through social media – has been posting photos and videos of the big night.

The 25-year-old singer songwriter was in Edmonton as part of her 1989 world tour.
