Summary: Manitoba’s southeastern riding, Conservative MP Ted Falk seeks to win his first full term in Provencher.

Boundaries: Spans all of Manitoba to the south and east of Winnipeg.

Last Election: In the 2011 general election, Minister of Public Safety Vic Toews won his fifth term here, defeating NDP candidate Al Mackling by 52.7 per cent.

Toews resigned in 2013, and Falk replaced him in a byelection, defeating Liberal candidate Terry Hayward by 28.3 per cent.

History: Aside from when it was held by Liberal MP David Iftody from 1993 to 2000, Provencher has been in the hands of the right-wing parties since 1972.

Demographics: This riding has high numbers of people whose mother tongue is either German (17.9 per cent) or French (10 per cent).

NDP: Les Lilley, retired CN Rail worker

Liberal: Terrance Hawyard, longtime public servant in the agriculture sector

Green: Jeff Wheeldon, registrar at a Christian University College
