Federal Election 2015: Grande Prairie-Mackenzie riding results

Summary: This is a new riding. Northern Alberta, formerly served by just two ridings, has now been split into three. Conservative MP Chris Warkentin, who was elected three times in the former riding of Peace River, is seeking re-election here.

Boundaries: Grande Prairie-Mackenzie covers the northwest portion of the province. It is a smaller version of the former Peace River riding.

Last Election: In the Peace River riding in 2011, Conservative Chris Warkentin won by 28,594 votes over the NDP candidate, taking a 75 per cent share of the vote. Had these new riding boundaries been in effect, the Conservatives would have earned 76 per cent of the vote, followed by the NDP with 15 per cent.

History: The Peace River riding has elected candidates on the political right to multiple terms since the 50’s. Conservative Chris Warkentin was first elected here in 2006, and again in 2008 and 2011.
