Italian farmer creates massive tribute to Robin Williams in his field

Italian Dario Gambarin has used his tractor to create a tribute to late actor Robin Williams in a huge field near Verona, Italy.

Gambarin used the 25,000-square-metre field to draw the face of Williams and above it the words “O Captain!” which refer to Williams’ role as an English teacher in the movie Dead Poets Society.

In the film, Williams urges his students to jump on their desks and yell the words from Walt Whitman’s poem, “O Captain! My Captain!”

Gambarin said he lost three kilos sweating in the intense heat as he worked the tractor.

He called his artwork “an homage, a memory, a shout,” adding that “Williams entered into many of our hearts with his extraordinary spontaneity.”

Williams began his career as a stand-up comic, then became a popular television actor, portraying Mork in the sitcom Mork and Mindy.

The coroner ruled his death a suicide that resulted from asphyxia caused by hanging.
