WATCH: Robbery suspect snatches iPad from hands of 4-year-old

If taking candy from a baby is easy, this alleged thief showed that snatching an iPad from a child can be nearly as effortless.

Surveillance footage from the Grace Salon in Tamarac, Florida shows the shocking moment when a suspect walked into the salon on July 24 and grabbed the tablet out of the hands of a four-year-old child.

According to witnesses, the suspect paced outside the business before entering to ask if his mother was inside. When the receptionist looked away, he leaned over to grab the iPad from Alejandro Ariza’s hands and ran off.

Police are hoping the public will be able to help them identify the suspect who will likely be charged with strong-armed robbery if caught.

“Many criminals do target vulnerable victims, such as elderly people, people who are distracted, and in this case it was unfortunately a child,” Broward Sheriff’s Office’s Public Information Officer Dani Moschella told Global News. “He saw an easy target and he knew that the child wouldn’t be able to put up any defense.”

Fortunately, the child was unharmed and his mother, an employee of the salon, was nearby.

“He was an opportunistic criminal and he got away with it for now,” said Moschella. “We want to see him caught.”

Crime Stoppers is offering up to $3,000 for information leading to an arrest.
