SASKATOON – A rainfall warning for most of southern and central Saskatchewan continues and now extends to Saskatoon and area. Environment Canada officials say 50 to 100 mm of rain is expected by Tuesday evening.
The reason is a strong low pressure system centred over southeast Saskatchewan that continues to track northwest with moderate to heavy rain continuing to fall to the north and west of the system.
Rainfall amounts of 30 to 50 mm have already fallen in many areas, with upwards of 85 mm in Coronach.

Officials caution heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads.
Rain is expected to continue throughout the day, with another 15 to 25 mm possible before the rain tapers off from west to east tonight.

Parts of southern Saskatchewan are also under a wind warning due to the same system.
Strong northwest winds will develop on the back side of the system later Tuesday morning, with sustained winds of 70 km/h with gusts to 90 km/h expected.
Winds will gradually diminish this evening as the system tracks into Manitoba.
