WATCH: Vancouver’s tenth homicide victim, a 21-year-old who died in his father’s arms, was on bail for a manslaughter charge.
A 21-year-old man has been found dead at a location just blocks away from where a 15-year old boy was murdered this past weekend in Vancouver’s tenth homicide of the year.
The victim has been identified as Samir Mokhtar.
A man by the same name was charged with manslaughter in the death of Aladdin Ramadan in Burnaby in September 2014.
Police previously said the victim in Monday night’s homicide was on bail on a manslaughter charge.
Shortly after 9 p.m., police received several 9-1-1 calls reporting the sound of gunfire on Seaforth Drive near Rupert Street.
Police located the victim lying on the side of the road. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
No arrests have been made.
“We’re working on a suspect profile and trying to determine who may be responsible for this,” said Cst. Brian Montague with the Vancouver Police.
Investigators are speaking with witnesses and canvasing for video evidence. Montague says they are asking any witnesses to come forward, including people in nearby Falaise Park who are believed to have fled when they heard shots.
