PENTICTON–Penticton Search and Rescue put its High Angle Rope Rescue Team to good use Friday night.
A call came in around 8:30 p.m. that a female hiker, who was with a group of three others, had tumbled down a 75–metre embankment near Sendero Canyon Development.

The team sent down three first responders, who found the 54–year–old woman with severe leg and head injuries wedged between a tree and a large boulder.
Search and rescue teams were called in from Central Okanagan and Oliver and Osoyoos.

A rescue squadron from Comox with a helicopter was also brought in for a medical evacuation.
The woman was flown to Kelowna General Hospital.
Her condition is not known at this time.
