UPDATE: RCMP have arrested Ronald Teneycke. Police say he was located in an orchard in Cawston at around 10:40 a.m. RCMP say no shots were fired from police or Teneycke during the take down.
A manhunt is currently underway in Oliver for a prolific offender who allegedly robbed a store last week.
Ronald Teneycke was charged with the robbery of an Oliver store July 16 and is currently on the loose.
His truck was discovered in a rural area on a forest service road east of the town. Police are currently doing a full-scale search of the area.
Oliver RCMP have also learned that Teneycke posed as a hitch-hiker on the Baldy Mountain Forest Service Road. When a man driving a 1999 White GMC picked him up, Teneycke allegedly assaulted the driver with a weapon and stole the truck.
The truck has a B.C. licence plate 7621 GG, with “Okanagan Rustic Furniture” written across the back window.
Teneycke is believed to be volatile, and gained notoriety in 2007 after police released a public warning about him. He served an twelve-year prison term for sexually assaulting a teenage girl.

More recently, he was convicted of possessing an explosive substance and sentenced to 90 days in jail, which he was serving on weekends. But he failed to report to a judge on June 26, and hadn’t been seen since.
Police are asking anyone who may know of the Teneycke’s whereabouts to contact them – and to not broadcast that information on social media for everyone’s safety.
