Ontario company apologizes for racist ad seeking ‘Caucasian’ nurses

An Ontario home care company is backing away from a racist ad Thursday that sought to hire a nurse in Burlington, Ontario.

One of the requirements, according to the ad, was that the nurse be Caucasian.

Retire-At-Home Services apologized Thursday morning in a Facebook post saying that ad “in no way reflects the practices” of the company and claimed the ad was “placed by one individual.”

The ad, which has since been deleted from Kijiji, was titled “Nurse (Caucasian) – RN or RPN in Burlington area.”

The vague ad provided little in terms of other necessary qualifications and only suggested that the ideal candidate was a Registered Nurse or Registered Practical Nurse who was willing to work 12-hour shifts and was white.
