NEW YORK, N.Y. – Reem Acra says she’s been surrounded by strong but feminine women lately. So the Lebanese designer translated that power into her fall collection that debuted Monday at New York Fashion Week.
“I kind of have this vibe around me,” Acra said backstage before her runway show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in the Lincoln Center tents. “I’m like how do I dress these women? How do I give them this power?”

The answer was to add structured leather to her daytime looks and spark to her gowns.
“in a very subtle way they are on fire,” Acra said. The sexy silhouettes are often favoured by starlets.
Acra’s runway went from day to night, starting with a hunter green leather long-sleeved crew neck dress with detailing at the waist. She slowly turned up the temperature, adding more and more sparkle until her final looks were head-to-toe embroidered sequins. The show ended with a series of full-length gold beaded gowns that hugged hips but swished at the knees and feet.
