Burnaby RCMP descended on the Lougheed Mall Thursday afternoon after a shopper found a grenade in the parking lot.
Officers, along with the bomb disposal unit, were called to the mall to investigate and the parking lot was off-limits for about an hour and a half.

Police say there was a grenade inside a bag, but it was old and dismantled. The device was inert and there was never a threat to public safety.
