NARAMATA – A suspected drunk driver sent a couple to hospital Wednesday evening in Naramata.

Penticton RCMP say the 44-year-old driver of a minivan crossed the center line and smashed into a blue SUV.

Police say the impact sent the SUV crashing into another vehicle.

Fortunately, the victims escaped with minor injuries but were taken to hospital as a precaution.

The Naramata fire chief says North Naramata Road and Robinson Avenue, where the accident took place, is a known problem intersection.

“It definitely is a site that we have quite a few accidents at,” says Tony Trovano.

The driver who caused the crash was issued a 90-day driving prohibition. Their vehicle is being impounded for a month.
