The video showed the two tussling before a loud slapping sound was heard. Onlookers could be heard yelling “don’t hit her” as he threw her aside and punched her in the face, knocking her to the ground.

Joe Schumacher, 28, allegedly took the video according to the New York Daily News and told the newspaper that “it was like a man hitting a child.”

“She got one good slap in and I say good for f—ing her,” he said.

According to police, the woman had been fired earlier in the day before coming back to the store. She reportedly admitted to police that she hit him first.

But despite police being involved, no charges were laid. The manager refused to press charges and police said he was defending himself.

The manager has however lost his job at Panera Bread.
