UPDATE — A large one storey commercial building in the 2600 block of 48 Avenue in Vernon has been destroyed by fire.
The fire started around 6:30 Tuesday evening.
Fire crews and police responded.
RCMP blocked 48 Avenue in front of the building, causing traffic tie ups.
There are reports the building housed the Social Assistance office for the North Okanagan.
Vernon–There is a huge fire burning in Vernon’s Village Green area.
It appears the fire has broken out in business offices. Smoke and flames can be seen from all over the city.
Firefighters are working to bring the blaze under control.
