TORONTO – The Courchevel ski resort in the French Alps is known for its well-heeled clientele, including members of the British and Saudi royal families, as well as pop and film stars who grace its slopes.
So perhaps it’s no surprise that it is also home to the priciest ski hotel in the world.
According to a survey from Luxury-Hotels.com, a room this season at Les Suites de la Potiniere costs an average of US$1,958 a night. Breakfast is extra (30 euros, or $40, per person), the hotel says.

The 15-suite establishment promotes its “exclusivity and privacy.”
Skiers on a more limited budget can opt for No. 2 on the list of most expensive ski hotels, the Aurelio Lech in Lech-Arlberg, Austria, at a mere $1,423, which is followed by the Carlton Hotel in St. Moritz, Switzerland ($1,256), the Almhof Schneider in Lech-Arlberg ($1,185) and Suvretta House in St. Moritz ($1,121).
Austria, Switzerland and the United States each have five hotels in the top 20, while France has four – all in Courchevel – and Italy one. Canada has none.
The survey compared rates from Jan. 1 to March 30 for a standard double room inside ski resorts worldwide.
