WATCH: Head-on crash between truck, motorcycle captured on helmet cam

TORONTO – Video out of California reminds us how quickly a peaceful ride can end in a horrifying collision.

Helmet camera footage shot by motorcyclist Jesse Lopez shows a terrifying head-on collision between his fast-moving motorcycle and an oncoming semi truck after Lopez’s bike lost control around a blind turn.

Lopez shot the video on April 1st, while he was out for a ride near the town of Glendora, California.

Lopez was driving on a narrow country road, and didn’t appear to be driving too quickly or carelessly. However, as he rounded a blind turn he lost control for a moment – and seconds later he’s sprawled across the highway.

Lopez told police he doesn’t remember the incident, but watching the video again he said he must have panicked and hit the brakes when he saw the oncoming truck, causing him to lose control.

While he was lucky to survive the horrific accident, Lopez didn’t exactly walk away, either. He suffered a broken femur, tibia, fibula, ulna and humerus at the elbow.

But it could have been much worse – as his own helmet camera can more than attest.
