CALGARY – Warrants have been issued for a 19-year-old man in connection with the 2014 murder of Maqsood Ahmed, police said Tuesday.
Jean Bertrand Havyarimana, of no fixed address in Calgary, is sought for robbery and second-degree murder of the Calgary businessman. CPS Homicide Unit Staff Sgt. Colin Chisholm said Havyarimana was a Calgary resident, but police don’t know if he’s still in the city.
At about 9:40 p.m. on Oct. 8, 2014, Ahmed and a female co-worker were closing up a business in the 4700 block of Westwinds Drive N.E. Police say Ahmed was attacked by two men, stabbed and robbed of the cash he was carrying.
The 55-year-old was taken to hospital where he died of his injuries. The female employee was uninjured.
Police believe four people conspired to rob Ahmed, and anticipate two more arrests related to the robbery.
